With January well and
truly gone (thank God!) and those January blues slightly lingering into
February with the horrible weather we're having at the moment, you can't help
feel a little warm and fuzzy inside with Valentine's Day just around the
corner... Or can you?
For
many it's just another day of consumerism, for companies to make profit on
cards, presents, jewellery, and flowers and for some the gift of a holiday or city
break... For others it's a day to show the one you love how much they mean to
you and spend some "special" time together...
As I'm with my other half for nearly 10 years now, for me personally, the novelty of buying things has definitely worn off. Gone are the days of cuddly bears, little ornaments with glitter and words of love, red picture frames with kisses all around and balloons in the shape of hearts (I know, I do love a bit of cheesiness but enough already!). Now don't get me wrong, it's a romantic time of year and we still exchange cards with our own little personal messages to each other (which aren't displayed on the mantelpiece for everyone to see!) but both of us as a couple don't need the 14th February to know how much we mean to each other.
